Depressed Pohatcongers After Hearing That Town Council Wants to Raid Their Wallets Yet Again |
1. Pohatcong Budget Battle: The sparks should be flying this upcoming Tuesday-April 17th as the Pohatcong Town Council will be discussing the fiscal year 2012-2013 municipal budget. Given the hard economic times, James Kern, Pohatcong's young millennial generation mayor is proposing no increase in taxes for the upcoming fiscal year. Leading the opposition will be current Council President and spendaholic Sal Vangeli who is pushing for pay increases and tax hikes. Come early for a front row seat!
When: Tue, April 17, 7pm
Where: 1001 East Boulevard, Alpha, NJ (map)
2. Good News-Common Sense Prevails Dept. : If you were planning to sell some of your extra produce or maybe some flowers by the side of your driveway this year, it was determined at the last township meeting that this would not require you to apply for a Peddlers Permit.
3. Here's an interesting new event worth considering from the hard working folks at Rec. and PTA. There may even be some helicopters landing that day:
Health And Safety Fair & 5K Run/Walk

ReplyDeleteThank you for all the information this website provides. Seems to be the only place I can find out anything about Pohatcong!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank-you for your feedback. Hopefully we can keep that information flow going for our growing number of readers- Sepp.
ReplyDeleteBtw-I hope you caught on to and liked the new blog format. I find this font easier to read and the overall design looks a lot more crisp to my tired old eyes. I noticed that some of the text got a little scrambled during the changeover but I don't think that is a problem for anyone and maybe not worth the effort to clean up.-Sepp
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting. I think this is great format for issues pertaining to Pohatcong Township.
ReplyDeleteThat picture is going to depicit what all the residents will look like in the poor house from such high taxes. I would also advise the residents of Pohatcong to check out how our school ranks among other NJ schools and espcecially schools in our area. Then we will see why taxes should not be raised for raises for our teachers.
ReplyDeleteI was at that meeting last night. I did not vote for Kern, but I would after that. Bravo.
ReplyDeleteI have heard many people, as of late, say things along similar lines re: Kern. Admirable job last night on his part(and Van Lieu) for standing firm in favor of the flat budget proposal.
ReplyDeleteWell from what I read in the paper, Snyder proposed a budget that went down and still would give the non-contract employees a raise. That would be in line with all the other Township employees. If he wants to not give raises it should be for ALL employees not a few just so they can grandstand. I believe that the cost of living has increased for all employees and not just a select few.
